Aramian elected to IU Foundation Board of Directors

Oct. 18, 2000

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- S. Sue Aramian, managing general partner of Kelley & Partners Ltd., former vice chairwoman and secretary of Consolidated Products Inc. of Indianapolis and Aramian Enterprises of Rhode Island, has been elected to the Indiana University Foundation Board of Directors.

"Sue's experience and dedication will be a positive addition to our dedicated board of volunteer directors," said IU Foundation President Curt Simic.

Aramian is currently a director of Consolidated Products Inc., director/vice chairwoman/secretary of Fairmont Snacks Group Inc., director/vice president of Steak n Shake Inc., director/president of King Cola Inc., director/vice chairwoman/secretary of Kelley Restaurants Inc., and former board member and president of 14 Sutton Tenants Corp.

She also is currently a member of the IU Kelley School of Business Dean's Advisory Council, the IU Foundation's President's Circle, the Board of Advisors for the Kelley School's New York City Alumni Club and the Advisory Council for the IU Office for Women's Affairs.

Aramian also is an advisory board member of Purdue University's Department of Restaurant, Hotel and Institutional Management. At Purdue, she has established a scholarship fund for highly qualified needy students who have matriculated in the RHIT program.

She has mentored many women into the executive ranks and continues supportive programs for young business people.

Aramian began her New York business career by spearheading a development office for Brown University. She is a 1974 graduate of the Executive Development Program in IU's Kelley School of Business and was the first woman to complete this program.

Her philanthropy has included establishing a childcare center and a senior center in the Republic of Armenia to honor her parents, who emigrated from that country. The childcare center provides educational, social and cultural programs to enhance the lives of children in cities devastated by the 1988 earthquake in Armenia. The senior center has become a focal point for that segment of the population by providing information on government programs, socialization and health care issues.

Aramian has served as a liaison between the International YMCA and social, cultural and economic programs in Armenia. She became a student of the violin and classical music at an early age and has maintained that interest by supporting cultural programs in this country and in Armenia.

The IU Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation that serves IU by raising funds from the private sector and providing stewardship and administrative services for donors and for IU. During the 1999-2000 fiscal year, the IU Foundation raised and received in excess of $100 million.
