Wednesday's IU business conference features Lilly CEO, Oracle vice president and former U.S. treasury secretary

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The economy and the future of e-commerce will be discussed Wednesday (March 7) at the 55th annual conference of Indiana University's Kelley School of Business at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.
Speaking at this year's conference will be Sidney Taurel, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Eli Lilly and Co.; Edward J. Sanderson Jr., executive vice president of Oracle Corp.; and Lawrence Summers, former U.S. secretary of the treasury and the Arthur Okun distinguished fellow in economics, globalization and governance at the Brookings Institution. Each will touch on the conference's theme, "'e' Is the Business: Revolutionizing the Value Chain."
The conference will begin at 9 a.m. with a presentation by Taurel, who will discuss the application of information technology in a global, high-tech company such as Lilly and about e.lilly, its major new initiative. He will be followed by a 10:45 a.m. presentation by Sanderson, who will explain what companies need to do in designing effective e-business systems.
Summers, the luncheon speaker, will discuss his recent experience at the center of American economic policy, during the longest period of economic growth in U.S. history, and offer insights about the future of the economy.
All of the presentations are open for media coverage and we invite you to cover part or all of the conference. Media attending the conference are encouraged to stop by Room 212 of the Convention Center to pick up materials and inquire about interviews. A limited number of seats have been reserved for media who wish to eat at the luncheon where Summers will speak.
