TV newsman Sam Donaldson to speak at IU on Monday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Veteran television newsman Sam Donaldson will speak at Indiana University on Monday (Sept. 18) at 7 p.m. in Whittenberger Auditorium at the Indiana Memorial Union.
The talk, titled "A View From Washington," will be open to the public free of charge. It is sponsored by the Center on Congress at IU.
Donaldson is a 40-year veteran of ABC News who has interviewed five presidents (Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Carter and Ford). He was chief White House correspondent for ABC from 1977 to 1989 and 1998-99, covering the presidency for World News Tonight and other ABC News programs.
Donaldson was co-anchor of PrimeTime Live for several years and is currently a correspondent for 20/20. He is also co-anchor of an ABC News Sunday morning broadcast. One of his latest ventures is hosting a live Internet newscast every weekday at 12:30 EDT that is titled SamDonaldson@abcnews.com
Throughout his career, Donaldson has interviewed leading celebrities in politics, business, fashion and entertainment. He has covered such major events as the crash of TWA Flight 800, the friendly-fire disaster in the Gulf War, corruption in the U.S. military, the Vietnam War, and a look inside the Kremlin.
He was named "Broadcaster of the Year" in 1998 by the National Press Foundation. He also has won three Emmy Awards and a George Foster Peabody Award, and he has been named "Best Television Correspondent" four times. His autobiography, Hold On, Mr. President, was a best-seller.
