BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Laura Michaud, one of America's leading business consultants and an internationally published magazine author focusing on family issues, will be the featured speaker at Indiana University's Indiana Family Business Forum on Thursday (Nov. 9).

Michaud will discuss "Balancing Your Family Business and Your Family Life" at a lunch presentation to be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Elmo Steak House, 127 S. Illinois St., in Indianapolis.

As the former vice president of sales and marketing, a board member, and a third generation family stakeholder in Belton Electronics, and a family business consultant, Michaud has extensive firsthand experience in dealing with family business issues.

Some of the issues Michaud will address include learning how to identify what causes particular family members the most stress, balancing the six components of life that typically meld in a family business, and using family business stress to your advantage.

Companies are invited to bring cross-generation members as well as family members who are indirectly involved in the family business to the presentation.

Registration is open to any Indiana family-owned business. The cost is $30 per person. For more information, contact Kimberly Ruff, program manager at the Johnson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, at 812-855-2751.

The Indiana Family Business Forum, launched in 1998, is a program of the Johnson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation in IU's Kelley School of Business. Specifically designed for Indiana family businesses, it provides informational seminars and materials on issues unique to the family business, as well as access to business assessment services tailored for family businesses and networking opportunities.
