Jan. 25, 2000
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Three Richard G. Lugar Achievement Awards will be presented Wednesday (Jan. 26) to companies from Indianapolis, Bloomington and South Bend for outstanding achievement in their communities, regions and state.
The awards are presented by the Johnson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Indiana University's Kelley School of Business. The ceremony will begin at 3:30 p.m. at Oak Hill Mansion, 5801 E. 116th St., Carmel, Ind.
Companies receiving the awards are being honored for their contributions to education, economic growth/international commerce and community service. Certificates recognizing achievements in these same categories will be presented to 13 companies for their significant contributions.
This year's Lugar Award recipients are Dewpoint Inc. of Indianapolis, for its contributions to education; Press Ganey Associates of South Bend, for community service; and Teletron Inc. of Bloomington, for fostering economic growth.
"Indiana's entrepreneurial community is a critical component of the state's economy and way of life. The fast-growing firms acknowledged by these awards are among our state's most valuable resources," said Elizabeth J. Gatewood, Johnson Center director and the Jack M. Gill Chair of Entrepreneurship at IU.
Lugar is unable to attend the ceremony and will be represented there by Mark Doud, special assistant for constituent services, outreach and economic development. Lugar created these achievement awards in 1998 to support Indiana's burgeoning entrepreneurial businesses and to reflect his own background in his family's businesses.
Dewpoint Inc. and Teletron Inc. also will receive certificates of recognition. Other Indianapolis companies receiving certificates of recognition will be Access Technology Inc., Charitable Resource Foundation Inc., Interactive Intelligence Inc., Live Entertainment Inc., ONEX Inc. and Professional Data Dimensions.
Companies from other areas of the state receiving the certificates will be Advanced Microelectronics Inc., Vincennes; Cole Bros. Corp., Peru; Indiana Protein Technologies Inc., Greenwood; Montrow Tool & Machine Inc., North Vernon; and Tri Star Engineering Inc., Bedford.
Award recipients were selected from winners of the center's 1999 Growth 100 honors. The Growth 100 awards annually identify and recognize 100 of Indiana's rapid-growth, high- potential companies with a minimum of $1 million in sales and a growth rate of at least 15 percent annually.
