Tickets for Powell address at IU available to IU students, faculty and staff Oct. 25

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Tickets for the Nov. 3 Union Board lecture by retired Army Gen. Colin L. Powell, former chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, will be made available to Indiana University Bloomington students, faculty and staff, beginning today (Oct. 25) at 10 a.m.
Powell will speak on "Challenges of a Changing World" on Nov. 3 at 4 p.m. at the IU Auditorium. There is no charge for the event.
One ticket for each IU Bloomington ID card will be allocated. No more than four ID cards will be accepted from one person.
On Oct. 30, beginning at 10 a.m., tickets will become available to the general public. All tickets can be obtained at the IU Auditorium box office or the Indiana Memorial Union activities desk.
Throughout his distinguished military career, Powell has earned a reputation for wisdom, calm and leadership most visibly demonstrated during crises at the highest levels of government. As chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Powell played an integral part in the planning of U.S. military efforts worldwide, including the Desert Storm and Desert Shield operations that forced Iraqi forces out of Kuwait.
Since 1997, he has acted as Chairman of America's Promise - The Alliance for Youth, a national campaign that strives to build and strengthen the character of our nation's young people.
The Indiana Memorial Union Board has brought thousands of programs to the IU community since its inception in 1909. Union Board is comprised of 16 student and four non- student directors responsible for campus programming that has entertained and educated the IU community through the years.
