IU Department of Religious Studies to host Sept. 19 forum on Islam and America

Sept. 13, 2001

In light of the recent national tragedy, the IU Department of Religious Studies will hold a public forum on Islam and America on Wednesday (Sept. 19) at 7 p.m. in Ballantine Hall 228. Speakers will present their views on Muslim life in America and what the impact of the current events has been on them both as Americans and as Muslims. R. Kevin Jaques, an Islam specialist in the Department of Religious Studies, will serve as moderator. "This is an important time for members of the campus and Bloomington community to come together and to discuss these issues in an open forum free of rancor and hostility," said R. Kevin Jaques, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies. Jaques added that all are welcome who are committed to developing mutual understanding of these horrific events.
