IU president to deliver State of University Address

Sept. 9, 1999

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University President Myles Brand will deliver his annual State of the University Address on Tuesday (Sept. 14) beginning at 2 p.m. CDT in the Frangipani Room of the Indiana Memorial Union. A reception will immediately follow in the East Lounge of the IMU.

During his remarks, Brand, now in his sixth year as president of IU, will focus on recent achievements made by the university and the major challenges ahead. He will then outline how the university will actively pursue strategies to overcome these challenges, which will determine whether IU will enhance its excellence and take its appropriate place among the best public universities.

President Brand's address is open to the public. It will be broadcast live on WTIU-TV on Sept. 14 at 2 p.m. and will be repeated on WTIU on Sept. 19 at 5 p.m. The speech also will be carried live over the Indiana Higher Education Telecommunications System (IHETS) and can be viewed at specific locations on all IU campuses. Additionally, it will be broadcast on the World Wide Web at http://www.wtiu.indiana.edu
