Jan. 26, 2000
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Deloitte & Touche Foundation, along with Indiana University alumni who are employed by Deloitte & Touche and friends of the firm, today (Jan. 26) presented a check for $500,000 to IU's Kelley School of Business.
The contribution will be used to construct a state-of-the-art 150-seat auditorium to be named the Deloitte & Touche Auditorium, according to Michael R. Becher, office managing partner of Deloitte & Touche's Indianapolis office, and Mark M. Chain, national director of the firm's recruiting and human resources management.
"The new Deloitte & Touche Auditorium will give generations of business students the information tools they will need not only to compete in the new millennium, but to lead us into the future," said Dean Dan Dalton.
"This most recent expression of generosity is the continuation of a long history we have enjoyed with our alumni and friends at Deloitte & Touche. We are grateful to Deloitte & Touche and pledge our commitment to efficient stewardship of these resources to benefit all Kelley School students, faculty and the business community that will enjoy many learning opportunities in the new Deloitte & Touche Auditorium."
The Deloitte & Touche Auditorium will be one of five auditoriums to be constructed in a new complex housing state-of-the art facilities to be used by the Kelley School and other units on the IU Bloomington campus. The exact location and construction schedule for the facility will be determined in the near future.
The complex is part of new construction being funded by the school's $22 million capital campaign. The campaign will also support a new Corporate and Graduate Center and renovations of the existing business school building.
"Our goal is for IU to continue to be a major source of professionals for Deloitte & Touche and the profession at large," said Becher, a 1975 Kelley School alumnus who led the campaign involving nearly 250 IU graduates working for the firm.
"In addition to our financial investment, we will continue providing developmental opportunities to students through internships, conferences and seminars. We also look forward to maintaining our close relationships with Kelley School faculty whom we hold in the highest regard," Becher said.
