ALUMNI VOTERS RE-ELECT JAMES MORRIS AS IU TRUSTEE

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- James T. "Jim" Morris, chairman and chief executive officer of IWC Resources Corp. of Indianapolis, was re-elected today (June 30) by Indiana University alumni to a three-year term as an IU trustee. He garnered 10,942 of the 31,919 votes cast.

Other candidates and their vote totals were:

A total of 855 ballots were voided, and 11 could not be validated.

All candidates earned degrees from IU, and every degree-holder from the university had the opportunity to vote in the elections.

Morris, an IU trustee since 1996, has served as chairman of the trustees' finance committee. He has served on the IU Foundation board of directors and various advisory boards of IUPUI and the IU schools of business, medicine and nursing. His IU honors include the Distinguished Alumni Service Award, the President's Medal of Excellence, and Beta Gamma Sigma.

IU has nine trustees, with three elected by the alumni. The other two alumni trustees are Cora Smith Breckenridge of Elkhart, whose term expires in 2000, and Ray Richardson of Greenfield, whose term ends in 2001.

The remaining trustees are appointed by the governor.
