Alumni re-elect Breckenridge as trustee

Indiana University announced that Trustee Cora Breckenridge of Elkhart, Ind., has been re-elected to serve on the nine-member IU Board of Trustees. Breckenridge was first elected a trustee in 1997. IU alumni were mailed ballots in early May and were asked to return them completed by June 30.

In gaining re-election, Breckenridge earned more votes than IU alumni Arthur "Art" A. Angotti of Indianapolis; Raymond W. "Nick" Nicholson of Evansville, Ind.; and Michael D. Shumate of Aspen, Colo.

A total of 41,776 ballots were returned. Of those, 1,499 were declared void.

The vote totals are as follows: Breckenridge, 14,071; Nicholson, 10,663; Angotti, 9,703; and Shumate, 5,840.

Breckenridge's second term begins July 1, 2000, and expires June 30, 2003.
