IU Alumni Association to offer different kind of "experiences"

Sept. 18, 2000

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana University Alumni Association and Ultimatebid.com have formed a new partnership to develop dynamic, online auctions where alumni may bid on IU "experiences."

A major portion of the winning bids will be donated to the IU Alumni Association and the respective IU departments sponsoring the experiences. Currently being auctioned are experiences with the IU football team and IU School of Music's Opera Theater.

The football experience includes two tickets to the Sept. 22 home game against Cincinnati, in IU Coach Cam Cameron's VIP section with former player Jeff Goldin. The winner also will be invited to the I-Men's tailgate party (age 21 and over); receive a bag with game memorabilia and a parking pass; and be escorted by the Student Athletic Board.

The Opera Theater experience includes two tickets in the Dean's VIP section for the Sept. 30 performance of The Elixir of Love; a non-singing cast part in full costume and make-up as the "Notary"; pictures with the director and cast; and an invitation to the Green Room reception after the performance.

The winner also will have the opportunity to meet Gwyn Richards, dean of the IU School of Music, and will receive other mementos.

The auctions are an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the university and alumni and a way to generate alumni awareness of on-campus happenings.

To bid on these and other upcoming IU experiences, go to the IU Alumni Association Web site at http://www.alumni.indiana.edu
