Indiana University selects the next 24 Wells Scholars

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University has selected 22 entering freshmen as Wells Scholars and two current IU students have been named internal Well Scholars, for the upcoming academic year.
The Wells Scholarship, named in honor of the late IU Chancellor Herman B Wells, ranks among the most competitive and prestigious awards offered by any American university. Wells Scholars receive full tuition and fees, as well as a living stipend for four years of study on the IU Bloomington campus.

The two internal Wells Scholars are : Donald W. Buck II, a junior from Bedford, Ind., and Robert Tayon Jr., a senior from Zionsville, Ind.
The Wells Scholar program also offers special seminars, an optional year of study abroad and support for a summer research project or internship. The Wells program emphasizes close interaction with faculty, academic and career advising, community service opportunities and contact with distinguished visitors.
Wells Scholars are selected for having demonstrated character, leadership and distinction, both inside and outside of the classroom.
