Graduation set Monday for IUPUI Inside-Out program at Indiana Women's Prison

Indiana University launches Public Policy Institute

Indiana University's School of Public and Environmental Affairs announced it has established the Indiana University Public Policy Institute. Located near the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis campus, the new Institute will serve as an umbrella organization for SPEA-affiliated centers that conduct research and provide expertise on urban and environmental policy, health policy and criminal justice.   Full Story >>

Jody Madeira, professor at the Indiana University School of Law--Bloomington, explains that there is little consensus and no guidance from the courts on whether lengthy sentences for young offenders constitute cruel and unusual punishment. On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal from Christopher Pittman, a South Carolina youth sentenced to 30 years in prison without parole for the murder of his grandparents when he was 12 years old.   Full Story >>
