IU alum, Academy Award nominee Angus Aynsley to speak, present film at IU Cinema Friday

This Friday (Sept. 16), film producer Angus Aynsley will return to his Indiana University alma mater to present a lecture and introduce a screening of his Academy Award-nominated documentary film Waste Land (2010) at IU Cinema. Produced by Aynsley and directed by Lucy Walker (Devil's Playground, Blindsight) Waste Land was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature film earlier this year. Exhibition of photos of Slovakia Holocaust survivors to be staged in honor of art gallery's new namesake

An upcoming photography exhibition -- featuring images of Holocaust survivors and of remains of the once-vibrant Jewish culture in Slovakia that was destroyed by the Nazis -- will be staged in honor of the newly designated namesake of Indiana University's Grunwald Gallery of Art.

IU receives NEH grant for Picturing John James Audubon Institute

Indiana University will host the 2011 Picturing John James Audubon Institute in July. The institute is made possible by a $204,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, funded by NEH's Picturing America summer seminar series designed for high school teachers. One source of reference for the institute will be the Lilly Library's Double Elephant Folio of John James Audubon's Birds of America, containing 435 meticulously detailed, hand-colored illustrations. An identical edition of Birds of America sold for a record $11.5 million at Sotheby's in December.   Full Story >>
