Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie joined other IU officials today (Aug. 24) in greeting IU Bloomington's Class of 2015, projected to be the second-largest freshman class in the university's history.

The Indiana University Board of Trustees has approved the request for an additional lodge to be built at IU Southeast. The board voted to approve the building at a meeting Friday (Aug. 19) in Indianapolis. It will become the sixth lodge on the New Albany campus.

Indiana University Bloomington residence halls will open at 8 a.m. Wednesday (Aug. 24) for Move-In Day, marking the beginning of Welcome Week 2011. With more than 11,000 beds available for the 2011-12 academic year, officials in IU Residential Programs and Services expect to be operating at full capacity. Students will move in from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and opportunities for photography, video and interviews will be made available to media.

The Indiana University Board of Trustees gave approval today (June 24) to the design of a new student residence hall and apartment complex near the east side of the IU Bloomington campus, setting the stage for construction of the facilities to begin later this year. The projects will incorporate design features that emphasize sustainability, flexibility, community and technology to build thriving communities of students.

As the 2011 Spring Energy Challenge came to a close last week, the Kelley School of Business, Briscoe Residence Center and Kappa Alpha Theta sorority emerged as winners. The four-week challenge to reduce electricity and water consumption is designed to foster behavioral changes in students, faculty and staff. This marked the fourth spring running of the Energy Challenge. All 12 residence halls, 17 academic buildings and 17 Greek houses participated in the competition.

Once again it's time to pack up your plastics and accumulate your aluminum. RecycleMania is coming back to Indiana University Bloomington. RecycleMania is a friendly, nationwide competition and benchmarking tool for college and university recycling programs to promote waste reduction activities to their campus communities. The contest will run for eight weeks, from Feb. 6 to April 2.
