Student Honors

Indiana University alumna Stacey K. Jones is among the 76 college graduates to receive the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Award in 2006. Jones, a 2006 Hutton Honors College graduate of IU Bloomington, received full tuition and a stipend--valued at $39,000--renewable each year she attends graduate school at the University of Chicago. Jones earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and sociology and a certificate in nonprofit management. She is studying now at the University of Chicago where she plans to earn a master's degree in social service administration.

Seventy students at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business are receiving scholarships resulting from an educational scholarship gift of $5.4 million from the Roy F. and Joann Cole Mitte Foundation of Austin, Texas.

Indiana University President Adam W. Herbert announced that 19 entering freshmen and one current IU student will this fall join more than 300 others who have been named Wells Scholars. The scholarship, named in honor of the late IU Chancellor Herman B Wells, ranks among the most competitive and prestigious awards offered by any American university.
