Sen. Connie Sipes receives Hoosiers for Higher Education Welsh-Bowen Award

A veteran state legislator was recognized today (Feb. 2) by Hoosiers for Higher Education for her significant contributions to higher education and Indiana University. IU President Michael A. McRobbie presented the Welsh-Bowen Distinguished Public Official Award to Sen. Connie Sipes, D-New Albany. The award is named for former Indiana Govs. Matthew Welsh and Otis "Doc" Bowen, who served as co-chairs of the Hoosiers for Higher Education state advisory committee.   Full Story >>

Hoosiers for Higher Education presents member award, scholarship

Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie presented the Sue H. Talbot Distinguished Hoosiers for Higher Education Member Award today (Feb. 2) to Sara Laycock, an HHE community captain in Indianapolis. Also, the $500 Sue H. MacArthur grant funds School of Education researchers' study of "systems thinking"

IU's Ostrom awarded Sagamore of the Wabash by Governor Daniels

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels honored Indiana University's Elinor Ostrom with a Sagamore of the Wabash at an event held last night (Dec. 21) at the Governor's Residence in Indianapolis. Ostrom, the Arthur F. Bentley Professor of Political Science at IU, is co-founder of the Workshop in Political Theory and Policy Analysis. She recently traveled to Stockholm, Sweden, where she was awarded the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel for her work on economic governance, especially of the commons.   Full Story >>

IU's Mohammad Torabi receives Distinguished Service Award

Mohammad Torabi, Chancellor's Professor and chair of the Department of Applied Health Science in Indiana University's School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation, received the Distinguished Service Award from Eta Sigma Gamma, the National Health Education Honorary, during its annual conference held in conjunction with the American School Health Association annual meeting in Denver.   Full Story >>
