University Dean Emeritus of the IU School of Education Donald Warren will speak at four Chinese universities during a two-week trip that will take him and his wife Beverly across the country. Appearing at the invitation of Chinese educators, Warren will speak about American higher education at Peking University and Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in Beijing, as well as at Yunnan Nationalities University in Kunming and Nanchang Hangkong University in Jiangxi Province.

Today's (May 2) news conference featuring Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has been canceled, but her speech to invited guests and news media is expected to take place. President Sirleaf's flight to Bloomington was delayed due to inclement weather this afternoon.

For the past two years, Indiana University faculty member Amos Sawyer has traveled back and forth between Bloomington and Liberia, where he chairs a Governance Commission that is charting an ambitious course of reform. His work is just one part of a close relationship that has developed between IU and the West African nation.

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the president of Liberia and the first woman elected as president of any African country, will meet with reporters at 3:30 p.m. at IU's Lilly Library, 1200 E. Seventh St., where she later will speak to about 100 invited guests and the media. Only working media who can provide identification verifying them with a recognized news organization will be permitted to attend.
