A study co-authored by a professor in IU's Kelley School of Business suggests that fans do have a great impact on games and that officials often are not objective in their efforts to be fair to both teams.

The new North End Zone Facility at Indiana University Bloomington's Memorial Stadium will be formally dedicated in a ceremony at the stadium on Friday (Oct. 2) at 2:30 p.m., with IU President Michael A. McRobbie presiding. The ceremony also will rename the new structure the North End Zone Student-Athlete Development Center.

Whitney Thomas will return to play for a fifth year at Indiana University -- but this semester, the women's basketball star will trade hoops for volleyball. Thomas is taking advantage of an NCAA rule that offers student-athletes a fifth year of eligibility to play one season of a different sport.

Throughout the state, all eight of Indiana University's campuses will honor the university's excellence and achievement in academics, arts and athletics this fall with "Celebrate IU," two months of academic activities, building dedications, Homecoming festivities, anniversary celebrations, philanthropic projects, and arts and entertainment events. IU President Michael McRobbie will help usher in Celebrate IU with his second State of the University address, Sept. 22, at the Indiana Memorial Union.
