Mohammad Torabi, interim dean of the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at Indiana University, has been awarded the President's Special Plaque from the International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sport and Dance. The award is in appreciation and recognition for his outstanding meritorious service to the organization and the field.

Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie presented the President's Medal for Excellence to Garland C. Elmore, associate vice president of information technology and associate professor of informatics. The presentation was made in Indianapolis at a function to honor Elmore's accomplishments that span three decades of service to the university. The President's Medal is one of the highest awards the university can bestow.

Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie presented the President's Medal for Excellence to David Baker, distinguished professor of jazz studies and chair of the Jazz Studies Department at the Jacobs School of Music. The presentation was made during a musical celebration honoring Baker's 80th's birthday on Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Musical Arts Center.
