Making oral presentations at scientific and academic conferences and meetings is a standard expectation for university researchers and instructors. For non-native English speakers, it can be a challenge. The Indiana Center for Intercultural Communication at IUPUI is presenting a workshop designed to help international researchers enhance their oral presentation skills.

Ten faculty members at Indiana University have been awarded Fulbright grants for the 2011-12 academic year. The Fulbright recipients represent three IU campuses -- Bloomington, Indianapolis and Fort Wayne -- and their research and academic activity take place worldwide.

Indiana University shined the brightest in an international competition to promote innovative humanities and social science research using large-scale data analysis, landing a leading number of five scholars on two of 14 winning projects. In all, 67 international teams competed in the Digging Into Data Challenge, with IU as the only university in the U.S. with researchers on two winning teams.

The U.S. State Department and the U.S. Consul General in Cairo have confirmed this morning (Nov. 24) that an Egyptian court has ordered the release of Indiana University student Luke Gates and two other U.S. college students, who had been detained by authorities in Cairo since Nov. 21. Arrangements are being made for Gates' immediate return to the U.S.
