The Indiana University Board of Trustees has approved on-campus room and board rates for the 2013-14 academic year during the business portion of its regularly scheduled meeting at the IUPUI campus.

Indiana University Bloomington residence halls will officially open at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, for Move-In Day.

Visitors to this weekend's commencement activities at Indiana University Bloomington should expect traffic delays and choose recommended alternate routes of travel during ongoing construction across campus.

Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie joined other IU officials today (Aug. 24) in greeting IU Bloomington's Class of 2015, projected to be the second-largest freshman class in the university's history.

The Indiana University Board of Trustees has approved the request for an additional lodge to be built at IU Southeast. The board voted to approve the building at a meeting Friday (Aug. 19) in Indianapolis. It will become the sixth lodge on the New Albany campus.

Indiana University Bloomington residence halls will open at 8 a.m. Wednesday (Aug. 24) for Move-In Day, marking the beginning of Welcome Week 2011. With more than 11,000 beds available for the 2011-12 academic year, officials in IU Residential Programs and Services expect to be operating at full capacity. Students will move in from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and opportunities for photography, video and interviews will be made available to media.

The Indiana University Board of Trustees gave approval today (June 24) to the design of a new student residence hall and apartment complex near the east side of the IU Bloomington campus, setting the stage for construction of the facilities to begin later this year. The projects will incorporate design features that emphasize sustainability, flexibility, community and technology to build thriving communities of students.

As the 2011 Spring Energy Challenge came to a close last week, the Kelley School of Business, Briscoe Residence Center and Kappa Alpha Theta sorority emerged as winners. The four-week challenge to reduce electricity and water consumption is designed to foster behavioral changes in students, faculty and staff. This marked the fourth spring running of the Energy Challenge. All 12 residence halls, 17 academic buildings and 17 Greek houses participated in the competition.

Once again it's time to pack up your plastics and accumulate your aluminum. RecycleMania is coming back to Indiana University Bloomington. RecycleMania is a friendly, nationwide competition and benchmarking tool for college and university recycling programs to promote waste reduction activities to their campus communities. The contest will run for eight weeks, from Feb. 6 to April 2.

The Indiana University Board of Trustees today (Feb. 19) approved residency hall rates for 2010-11 at all campuses with student housing. The action was taken at its regularly scheduled business meeting at the IU Kokomo campus.

Aspiring filmmakers, make note: Indiana University students will have an opportunity to create their own five-minute movies -- and win prizes ranging from cash grants to a MacBook Air laptop -- through participation in Campus MovieFest, the world's largest student film festival.

In a continued effort to "bring the world to the students," Indiana University Residential Programs and Services, Foster International Living-Learning Center and Collins Living-Learning Center will co-sponsor a series of workshops by Cherry Natural (aka Marcia A. Wedderburn) -- one of Jamaica's leading poets and women's rights activists -- from Oct. 28-30.

Foster International Living Learning Center, the second such center at IU and one of seven at Indiana University, will kick off its 25th anniversary celebration at 4 p.m. Friday (Sept. 19) at Foster-Shea (1000 N. Fee Lane). The event will commence with comments from John Galuska, director of Foster International; Bruce Jacobs, IU's vice chancellor for auxiliary services and programs; Patrick Connor, executive director of IU's Residential Programs and Services, and Diana Jacobs, director of academic initiatives and services at IU.

Although final numbers won't be available for several weeks, officials say Indiana University Bloomington's 2008-09 freshman class will be the campus' largest and most academically talented ever, and one of its most diverse. The number of first-year students will top the previous record of 7,259 set in the fall of 2006. Average SAT scores are higher, and the number of minority and international students in the freshman class also appears to have increased.

The Indiana University Board of Trustees today (Jan. 31) approved the site plan for construction of the 803-bed Ashton student housing complex, the first step in a multi-stage plan to upgrade campus housing at IU Bloomington. Located on the east side of campus, the complex will provide apartment-style units comparable to popular off-campus student housing in Bloomington.

The Indiana University Division of Residential Programs and Services and Union Board will present Tim Wise, a prominent anti-racist writer and activist, in a series of campus events Oct. 10 and 11. The public is invited to a free lecture, "'White Privilege' and Social Activism," at 8 p.m. on Oct. 10.

Indiana University Trustees approved today (Feb. 3) a 3.22 percent increase to the room and board rate in IU Bloomington residence halls for 2006-07. Under the new plan, the Bloomington campus will have the fourth-lowest room-and-board rates among Big Ten universities.

Welcome Week, a series of activities designed to connect students with the people, places and resources of Indiana University Bloomington, will be highlighted by events such as Freshman Induction Ceremonies on Wednesday (Aug. 24) and CultureFest on Thursday (Aug. 25). The theme for the week is "Proud Traditions: Welcome Week 2005."

Indiana University's Bloomington campus will remain the third-lowest for room-and-board rates among Big Ten universities. IU trustees today (March 4) approved a package of housing and meal rates for the 2005-06 academic year with an overall average increase of 3.55 percent.
