Nel Noddings, professor emeritus at Stanford University and author of seminal works in educational theory and philosophy, will make a presentation titled "Happiness and Education" at the Indiana Memorial Union in Bloomington on Thursday (Nov. 19) from 4:30 to 6:15 p.m. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will be in IMU's Oak Room.

Two of the nation's preeminent scholars on international security and nuclear weapons will meet Wednesday (Nov. 18) for a debate on the long-term security implications of nuclear weapons in South Asia.

Fair Trade Bloomington, a nonprofit organization created by Indiana University's Students in Free Enterprise organization (SIFE), will host its fifth annual International Fair Trade Market Thursday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Frangipani Room at the Indiana Memorial Union. Indiana University Bloomington students will come together Nov. 13 for the 19th annual IU Dance Marathon (IUDM), a 36-hour fundraiser that benefits Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. More than 2,000 students are expected to participate in this year's Dance Marathon, which begins at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, and ends at 8 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, at the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER).

The Indiana Union Board and Victoria's Secret PINK will present two national music groups -- Girl Talk and Cobra Starship -- for free at IU Bloomington on Oct. 22 at 5 p.m. in Dunn Meadow. IU Bloomington was selected to host the Victoria's Secret 2009 PINK Nation Party during a nationwide online competition among five American universities.

Indiana University alumnus Dennis James returns to IU Auditorium for his annual Halloween organ performance, this year accompanying Alfred Hitchcock's thriller Blackmail, Oct. 29, at 8 p.m. Audience members who arrive by 7:30 p.m. will be eligible to compete in the B97-sponsored costume contest in the categories of "Scariest Costume," "Most Creative Costume" and "Best Overall."

Indiana University Opera Theater continues its 2009-10 season with the passionate, timeless Roméo et Juliette, opening Oct. 23 at the Musical Arts Center. The company has produced this work only twice before, in 1966 and in 2005.
