Twenty-one high school and middle school teachers have explored several new methods during their weeks of workshops, including ways of using music to teach math, examining math in exercise physiology, and methods of math instruction in the New Tech High School model.

Faridah Pawan will spend a month in China observing classrooms and working with teachers of "English as a Foreign Language" (EFL), as it's called there. Pawan is an assistant professor in the department of Literacy, Culture, and Language Education, and she is director of TACIT -- a program to prepare more English as a Second Language (ESL) instructors.

Nine research centers at IU Bloomington have learned that they will receive Title VI funds over the next four years. They join a program at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis, which was awarded funding last year, to bring the total number of Title VI centers at IU to 10
