The Indiana University Student Media Board has chosen junior Brad Zehr of Fort Wayne, Ind., as the Indiana Daily Student editor-in-chief for spring 2010 semester.

Twenty-one Indiana University undergraduates have been honored with selection as Cox Scholars for the 2009-10 academic year.

A record number of 43 freshmen Cox Research Scholars will begin their college careers at Indiana University Bloomington this fall. The 2009 freshman class joins 49 Cox Research Scholars already on campus who are in their sophomore, junior and senior years. The entering class includes 14 National Merit scholars.

An Indiana University graduate student's original online video game series, GameZombie.tv, is a Webby Awards Honoree for the second year in a row. Hailed as the "Oscars of the Internet" by the New York Times, the Webby Awards honor excellence on the Internet, including Web sites, interactive advertising, online film and video and mobile Web sites. Entries are judged by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences. Fewer than 15 percent of entrants were deemed Official Honorees.

An Army ROTC cadet from Indiana University Bloomington was selected to join senior U.S. military leaders at a National Security Seminar in Lexington, Va. Cadet Brandon Landes from Fort Wayne, Ind., earned the opportunity to participate in the George C. Marshall ROTC Seminar by being selected as the top Army ROTC cadet at Indiana University. While in Lexington, Landes will have the opportunity to directly interact with key military leaders and to discuss a variety of issues directly bearing on national security.

Indiana University's College of Arts and Sciences has selected two students as winners of its 2009 Palmer-Brandon Prize: Aren Wilson-Wright, a junior majoring in Jewish studies, religious studies and mathematics, and Clara Mitchell, a junior majoring in English and art history, will each receive $20,000. The Palmer-Brandon Prize is given annually to outstanding full-time students who are majoring in the humanities.

Rebecca Burns, a graduating senior at Indiana University Bloomington, has received Indiana University's prestigious Herman B Wells Senior Recognition Award. The award recognizes excellence in academic achievement and excellence of contribution to the campus community through leadership and participation in campus activities.

Beginning this spring, Indiana University Bloomington will honor high-achieving undergraduate students with a new award that salutes sustained academic excellence. Students who have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.8 or higher will be designated as "Founders Scholars" at IU Bloomington's Honors Convocation on March 29.

A 19-year-old Indiana University student who this spring will graduate Phi Beta Kappa with majors in chemistry, mathematics and Germanic studies has been named a 2009 Marshall Scholar by the British government. The scholarship, one of 40 awarded this year to students in the U.S., will allow Yun William Yu to travel to Britain and earn master's degrees over the next two years in computational biology at the University of Cambridge and biomedical physical chemistry at Imperial College London.

The "ClusterMeisters," a team of students from the Indiana University School of Informatics and Technische Universität Dresden (TUD) were awarded first place in the SC08 Cluster Challenge, an international collegiate competition for leading-edge, energy-efficient high performance computing.
