A study published in the June issue of the Journal of Psychosocial Oncology measured changes in physicians' attitudes and knowledge after training in end-of-life communication using an innovative educational approach entitled, "The Four Habits of Highly Successful Clinicians." Richard M. Frankel, professor of medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine, was the lead author.

Eleven clinical programs at Clarian Health ranked among the top 50 national programs in U.S.News & World Report's "2008 America's Best Hospitals Guide." Clarian's Methodist Hospital and Indiana University Hospital were the only Central Indiana hospitals included in the rankings and are among only 170 hospitals recognized out of the 5,453 evaluated nationwide.

Researchers at Indiana University School of Medicine will participate in the Global Alliance for Pharmacogenomics, a collaboration between scientists in the United States and Japan announced Tuesday by the National Institutes of Health. The U.S. scientists involved are members of the NIH Pharmacogenetics Research Network, including David Flockhart, M.D., Ph.D., professor of medicine and of medical genetics and chief of the division of pharmacology at the IU School of Medicine.
