An article by Indiana University Maurer School of Law Professor John Applegate has been selected as one of the top five environmental law articles of 2009. "Synthesizing TSCA and REACH: Practical Principles for Chemical Regulation Reform" will appear in Volume 41 of Thomson-West's Land Use and Environmental Law Review. Articles that appear in this annual publication are selected through a peer review process that considers all major land use and environmental law articles that appeared in the previous year.

The Hoosier Environmental Council announced today that Brian J. Soden, a noted geophysicist and climate change expert, will present "The Reality of Global Warming: Cold Facts on a Hot Topic," on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. As part of his presentation, Soden will discuss the science of global warming and the struggle to educate the general public on an often confusing and polarizing topic.

Building on the foundation of a successful academic program and Conservation Law Center, the Indiana University Maurer School of Law has appointed Carolyn Waldron as director of its Environmental Law Program. Waldron, a 20-year veteran of environmental advocacy, will lead a new program to strengthen partnerships and bridge the academic resources of IU to better serve today's emerging environmental challenges.
