Philanthropy Center's Tempel to head IU Foundation

Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie announced today that he has chosen Eugene R. "Gene" Tempel to succeed Curtis R. Simic as president of the IU Foundation. With I-Light 'backbone' completed, Indiana sets stage for high-speed growth

Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie today (June 20) announced completion of the "backbone" of a high-speed, fiber-optic network that will provide every public and private college campus in Indiana with digital communications at least 20 times faster than a typical home Internet connection. Known as I-Light, the network involves more than 1,000 miles of fiber-optic cable reaching every corner of the state and is larger, per capita, than similar networks in neighboring states. More than 40 higher education institutions will use the system for educational and research purposes.   Full Story >>

Media advisory: I-Light 'backbone' completion announcement

On Friday (June 20), Indiana University President Michael McRobbie will announce in South Bend, Ind., completion of the I-Light "backbone" system. I-Light will provide high-speed, broadband connectivity through a fiber-optic network to more than 40 higher education campuses -- both public and private -- in Indiana. Campus hook-ups are now under way and are expected to be completed by year's end.
