Sandra "Sandy" Froman, a former two-term president of the National Rifle Association, will visit the Indiana University Maurer School of Law on Tuesday (Nov. 3) to discuss the recent decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to review McDonald v. Chicago, a case that could have a widespread effect on state and local gun laws.

Hundreds of university leaders, students, and alumni are expected to be on hand Friday (Sept. 25) for the official naming of the Indiana University Michael Maurer School of Law. The ceremony will coincide with the Law School's second annual Alumni Summit and celebrate a $35 million gift from Michael and Janie Maurer the Law School received last December.

Indiana University Maurer School of Law Dean Lauren Robel announced the launch of the school's new Center on the Global Legal Profession. Based at IU Bloomington, the center will focus on the unprecedented challenges lawyers are facing around the world and develop research and training materials to assist current and future attorneys in their understanding of international legal systems.

Leaders from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law and Sungkyunkwan University's Graduate School of Business announced today (June 5) the creation of a joint J.D./M.B.A. program believed to be the first of its kind between an American law school and an international M.B.A. program.

Speaking to the inaugural graduating class of the school that now bears his name, Michael Maurer encouraged law students to honor the profession, and to find ways to give back to those places and people who made them who they are. The IU Maurer School of Law honored the class of 2009 Saturday, conferring 194 JDs, 23 LLMs, and 16 SJDs to students at the IU Auditorium.
