Yarber, senior director of the Rural Center for AIDS/STD Prevention at Indiana University, said a new federally funded media campaign designed to raise public awareness about HIV/AIDS is necessary and welcomed. He said the public's concern about HIV/AIDS has been lessening, particularly in rural areas, where denial is pervasive.
