Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie today (Sept. 4) joined with the chief executive of the Australian National University -- that nation's top-ranked institution of higher education -- in signing a partnership agreement for the creation of a jointly operated Pan-Asian Institute. The new institute will combine the complementary academic strengths of the two universities into a single research and teaching enterprise with expertise that encompasses a broad range of Asian countries.

Recent Indiana University Bloomington graduate Katherine Ntiamoah has been selected as a 2009 Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Fellow following a highly competitive nationwide competition. The fellowship provides more than $80,000 for graduate study and travel to extraordinary individuals who want to pursue careers in the U.S. Foreign Service.

Indiana University today (Dec. 6) unveiled a new strategic plan to improve the global literacy of its students and faculty and strengthen the university's position as a leader in internationalization. The plan calls for increased student and faculty participation in study abroad and international service learning programs as well as the development of strategic international partnerships that support overseas study, global research and the recruitment of international students.

Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie announced today (Sept. 6) that 11 IU students have received prestigious Fulbright-Hays grants for Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad for the 2007-08 academic year. These students are 11 of fewer than 170 U.S. citizens and permanent residents who will travel abroad for the 2007-08 academic year through the Fulbright-Hays program.
