Football's Doss, Kirlew, Saffold named All-Big Ten

Sophomore wide receiver Tandon Doss, fifth-year defensive end Jammie Kirlew and senior left tackle Rodger Saffold earned All-Big Ten honors, the conference announced Monday (Nov. 23) evening. Doss collected first team accolades from the conference media and second team laurels from the conference coaches, while Kirlew garnered second team honors from both groups. Legendary coaches headline 2009 Athletics Hall of Fame class

Vice President and Director of Athletics Fred Glass announced today (August 23) that legendary IU coaches Bob Knight (basketball) and Jerry Yeagley (soccer) will headline the 2009 Indiana University Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame inductee class. They join former Hoosier standouts Steve Downing (men's basketball, 1971-73), Katrin Koch (women's track and field, 1989-92), Joe Norman (football, 1975-78), the late Mike Rabold (football, 1956-58), and Alan Somers (swimming, 1961-63) as honorees. The class will be officially inducted at the annual Hall of Fame dinner on November 6, and will be recognized at halftime of the football game against Wisconsin at Memorial Stadium, the following day.   Full Story >>

IU partners on new football game day traffic plan

Indiana University announced today (Aug. 13) that a new game day traffic plan will be implemented for the 2009 football season. The new plan is the product of a collaborative effort between Indiana University and several key partners. "I would like to thank President McRobbie and the Board of Trustees for their leadership in focusing us all on the issue of game day traffic," said Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Fred Glass.   Full Story >>

David Erdy: Indiana University and the 109th U.S. Open

Less than 72 hours after completing his second round at the 109th U.S. Open, 19-year-old David Erdy was back at it again, teeing off in Peru, Ind., for the -- coincidentally -- 109th Indiana Amateur. His love for the game of golf is obvious, as was his love for Indiana University at the U.S. Open in Bethpage Black, New York, with Erdy sporting his Cream and Crimson gear for much of the PGA major tournament.   Full Story >>

IU officials respond to NCAA decision on men's basketball

Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie and senior officials in the Department of Athletics said that for the most part they are satisfied with the conclusions contained in the final report of the NCAA's Committee on Infractions, which was released today Nov. 25. McRobbie said the committee's decision clears the way for IU Men's Basketball Head Coach Tom Crean to proceed at full speed with his rebuilding program without having to worry about any further sanctions or penalties being imposed by the NCAA.   Full Story >>

John Pont, IU's Rose Bowl coach, dies at 80

John Pont, who coached the Indiana University football team to its only Rose Bowl appearance, died today (July 1) in Oxford Ohio. He was 80.   Full Story >>
