Civic Quotes, a new resource from the Center on Congress at Indiana University that uses notable quotations and images to teach about American government and citizenship in an engaging, interactive way, is now available as a free app for the iPad tablet computer and on the Web.

On Wednesday (Sept. 14) at the Indiana State Museum in Indianapolis, Lee Hamilton, director of the Center on Congress at Indiana University, joins with Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Randall T. A decade after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, members of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, also known as the 9/11 Commission, will gather at Indiana University for a public discussion of subsequent history and lessons learned. The event, "Ten Years Later: The 9/11 Commissioners Reflect," will take place on Sept. 15, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at IU Auditorium.

A project to assess civic knowledge and engagement in Indiana is under way with support from former U.S. Rep. Lee Hamilton and the Indiana Supreme Court. The Indiana Civic Health Index will assess who participates in community activities such as voting and volunteerism, what resources promote civic engagement, and what obstacles prevent citizens from getting involved in community activities and decision making.
