Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie announced today the creation of a new office to lead an initiative to develop and implement a distinct collective mission for IU's regional campuses which highlights their critical role within the university and the state's higher education system.

Indiana University President Michael McRobbie honored the 2009 freshman class of the Adam W. Herbert Presidential Scholars at a reception and dinner at Indiana University Memorial Union's Alumni Hall on Jan. 29, 2010. The Presidential Scholars program, now in its fifth year, was named in honor of IU President Emeritus Adam W. Herbert, who initiated the program in 2005.

Indiana University Northwest will host finalists starting this week as the campus continues the process of naming a new chancellor. Two finalists for the position will visit the campus to meet with faculty, staff, students and community members. Following those visits, the next step will be for the university search committee that identified the finalists to meet again and make further recommendations to President Michael McRobbie.

Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie has approved a new university-wide structure for public safety and emergency management that is designed to ensure uniformity and consistency in these critical activities on all campuses. Police departments on each IU campus are being combined into a single Indiana University Police Department (IUPD), which will be headed by a university director for public safety.

As part of its "Innovate Indiana" initiative, Indiana University has established a university-wide engagement council composed of economic development representatives from IU's eight campuses and three engagement offices located throughout the state.
