The Indiana University Research & Technology Corp.'s board of directors has chosen IU Executive Director for Engagement Tony Armstrong as its new president and CEO. Armstrong won't need much time to adjust to the role -- he's helmed the IURTC and its business incubator, the IU Emerging Technologies Center, on an interim basis since early April.

The Indiana University Police Academy will hold its 36th graduation ceremony on Aug. 9 at 11 a.m. in Whittenberger Auditorium at the Indiana Memorial Union. Of the seven accredited law enforcement academies in Indiana, the IU Police Academy is unique in the United States because it combines an academic and accredited law enforcement training program for undergraduates on a university campus. Since 1972, the IU Police Academy has graduated more than 950 police officers.

Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie announced today that he has chosen Eugene R. "Gene" Tempel to succeed Curtis R. Simic as president of the IU Foundation. Tempel will be the seventh leader of the nonprofit organization established in 1936 as Indiana University's fundraising partner.

Indiana University alumni elected Patrick A. Shoulders, Evansville, Ind., to a third three-year term as IU trustee today (June 30). Shoulders received 14,507 of the 32,552 valid votes cast.
