Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie announced today the creation of a new office to lead an initiative to develop and implement a distinct collective mission for IU's regional campuses which highlights their critical role within the university and the state's higher education system.

Members of the Indiana University community and the general public will be able to view this year's State of the University address live and in its entirety online at http:// broadcast.iu.edu. At the invitation of the University Faculty Council, IU President Michael McRobbie is scheduled to deliver the address on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. in Alumni Hall of the Indiana Memorial Union.

Just over five and one-half years ago, on April 2, 2004, to be exact, the Indiana University Board of Trustees gave its approval for the construction of a Medical Education Center at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW.) That approval was just the beginning: Indiana's Commission for Higher Education approved the project in December 2004, and in July 2005 the State Budget Committee approved giving $12 million to IU to fund the construction. Construction on the building began in 2007 and was finished earlier this year.

Originally known as the IU vs. Purdue Blood Donor Challenge, Indiana University continues saving lives this year in the renamed 13th annual IU Blood Donor Challenge. The nationwide challenge will run through Nov. 13.
