2009 has been a year to remember for Geoffrey Fox, Indiana University computational scientist. And according to HPCwire, the popular computing publication, in 2010 Fox will be someone to watch. Christopher S. Peebles, Indiana University professor emeritus of anthropology, has been awarded the Thomas Hart Benton Mural Medallion by IU President Michael McRobbie. Recognized for his prominent achievement and dedicated service, Peebles is a distinguished expert on the ancient past whose contributions to IU's high tech present and future also are recognized with this honor.

Elinor Ostrom, the winner of the 2009 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences, will give a keynote presentation as a part of Indiana University's GIS Day celebration on November 18. University Information Technology Services (UITS) at Indiana University is opening a new Student Technology Center in the Indiana Memorial Union to support students' academic work. The URL is simply m.iu.edu, and the service offers convenient online access to information about IU and all its campuses, including news, campus alerts, a student and staff address directory and Oncourse, the university's collaboration and learning environment.
