Carl Lenthe, professor of trombone at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, is the featured soloist on two newly released CDs contained in H. Voxman's Concert and Contest Collection, featuring the Rubank Method--one for trombone and one for baritone horn, both with piano accompaniment. In addition, Kimberly Carballo, interim head opera coach at the Jacobs School, is one of the featured pianists on the trombone CD.

The Baroque trombone ensemble ¡Sacabuche!, made up of students and alumni of the IU Jacobs School of Music, has been invited to perform in the fringe festival of the internationally recognized 2009 Boston Early Music Festival.

Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie has awarded emeriti faculty members Denis Sinor and Harvey Phillips with the President's Medal for Excellence. The awards are among the highest honors an IU president can bestow.

The Grammy Award-winning, all-male chorus Chanticleer and internationally renowned quintet Canadian Brass -- both of which have strong ties to Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music -- will play at IU's Summer Music Festival July 27 and Aug. 3, respectively.

Harvey Phillips, tuba virtuoso and distinguished professor emeritus at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, has added another honor to one of the most remarkable careers in modern American musical history. He has become the first brass player chosen for induction into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame.
