"Over the last 5-8 years, we have seen a dramatic shift where park and recreation practitioners are actually going beyond the minimum requirements of the law and incorporating the principles of universal design to accommodate the wide range of abilities that visitors coming to their facilities may have," said Gary Robb, executive director of the National Center on Accessibility at Indiana University.
