In the April IU Health & Wellness, Indiana University experts in qigong, ergonomics and sexual health discuss office qigong and a new public opinion survey that asked Hoosiers questions about classroom instruction involving the correct use of condoms.

Successful programs for preventing AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases in rural communities nationwide will be center stage at Indiana University Bloomington during the Rural Center for AIDS/STD Prevention's sixth national conference, where Jeanne White Ginder will receive the inaugural Ryan White Distinguished Leadership Award.

William L. Yarber, senior director of the Rural Center for AIDS/STD Prevention at Indiana University, said a new federally funded media campaign designed to raise public awareness about HIV/AIDS is necessary and welcomed. He said the public's concern about HIV/AIDS has been lessening, particularly in rural areas, where denial is pervasive.

In the March 2009, IU Health & Wellness, Indiana University researchers discuss studies involving yoga's influence on fear of falling in older adults and how condom use 'turn offs' reported by women are very similar to those reported by men. They also provide tips for parents to help their kids discontinue or avoid smokeless tobacco use.
