Broadway Cabaret

IU Bloomington's Department of Theatre and Drama is preparing to celebrate its 75th year with a gala May 2. Along the way, the stellar department has made its mark on the community that benefits from its presence in many ways, while training its students for careers throughout the world. The Jordan River Revue of decades ago, for instance, recently has morphed into an entertainment vehicle called Broadway Cabaret, under the direction of Emmy Award winner George Pinney.  More »

Outsider art

When Ann Fritz, curator of the IU Northwest Gallery, became aware of the work being done at the Indiana State Prison, she spoke to some of the artists and reviewed their work. What transpired is an exhibit of "outsider art" that runs through April 17 at a venue in Hammond. "It's a community show," she explains. "The prison is part of the community we serve, part of the seven-county northwest Indiana area."  More »
