IU grad student sings for Haiti, asks choirs around the world to do the same

zyOzy Choir An Indiana University graduate student and songwriter has issued a global cry for help in Haiti -- through song. Working with the Chicago-based nonprofit organization the zyOzy Foundation, Amy Wolff seeks to raise at least $30,000 from corporate and individual donors for the CARE Earthquake Relief Fund.  Full Story

 IU alumna creates design for 2010 Lincoln Bicentennial Penny

The artwork of Indiana University Bloomington alumna Lyndall Bass will soon make its way across the country -- and eventually, around the globe -- in wallets, purses, piggy banks and gumball machines everywhere. Bass created one of four designs selected for the reverse side of a 2010 Lincoln Bicentennial Penny. The new penny is being issued in recognition of the bicentennial of President Abraham Lincoln's birth and the 100th anniversary of the first issuance of the Lincoln cent.

 New program offers volunteer opportunities for 21st Century Scholars

To help new students adjust to college life while helping local causes, Indiana University's 21st Century Scholars Program launched Scholar Corps last spring. Participating students have felt a greater sense of involvement with the community and formed closer friendships with one another, said program founder Chris Enstrom, director of the 21st Century Scholars Program at IU Bloomington.

Four-time individual slam poetry winner Patricia Smith will be the keynote speaker for the Feb. 25 symposium luncheon.
