BLOG: An IU Athletics staffer reveals his 10 favorite spots related to athletics

Basketball Banners On game day weekends, lazy summer days, and when business or academic conferences are in town, I often run into fans, tourists or prospective students who are walking the grounds of the IU Athletics complex to catch a glimpse of Indiana's athletics facilities. Dickerson named premier player of college baseball

College sports fans voted Indiana's Alex Dickerson the recipient of The 2011 Premier Player of College Baseball trophy. Dickerson, who is currently playing for the Pittsburgh Pirates' single-A affiliate, became the first recipient of the Premier Player of College Baseball trophy.

IU announces new contract for volleyball coach Sherry Dunbar

Indiana University Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Fred Glass has announced that volleyball coach Sherry Dunbar has agreed to a new multi-year contract through the 2017 season. Her previous agreement would have expired after the 2012 season.

Helmer announces 2011 recruiting class

Indiana track and field and cross country director and head coach Ron Helmer has announced the addition of 13 men and 12 women to the 2011-12 roster. The recruiting class won a combined seven state championships and includes a trio of Division I transfers that are returning to their home state of Indiana to compete for the Hoosiers.

Hoosier legend Pihos passes away

Pete Pihos

Former Hoosier All-American end and fullback Pete Pihos passed away at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday morning in Winston-Salem, N.C., after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was 87 years old. Pihos became the second IU football product to be enshrined into the College Football Hall of Fame when he was inducted in 1966.

Colloton joins women's basketball staff

Indiana head women's basketball coach Felisha Legette-Jack has added Jimmy Colloton to her staff as graduate assistant. Colloton began the official duties in his new role on Monday, Aug. 1. Colloton joins the Hoosiers after graduating from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and a minor in business.
