Performances will celebrate IU's cultural heritage Oct. 13-21

Bob Dylan Musical performances by Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, André Watts, Marietta Simpson and David Baker, and comedy by David Sedaris, will highlight the cultural offerings of Indiana University's "Celebrate IU" week Oct. 13-21. Earlier this summer, the IU Alumni Association announced that it was expanding traditional homecoming events to a full week as a celebration on all of IU's eight campuses. More than 30 special events and activities are expected to draw thousands of students, alumni and IU supporters to most IU campuses.  Full Story

 IU Jacobs School to open historic 2007-08 season

The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music will continue its tradition of welcoming the world's most illustrious musicians -- both in residence and as guests -- and presenting new and legendary music when it kicks off its 2007-08 season this month. Among other highlights is the debut of Leonard Slatkin as a Jacobs School faculty member conducting the IU Philharmonic.

Parts That Were Once Whole

A night class Nancy Botkin took in the early '80s led her down a new path. A poetry writing workshop with Barry Spacks inspired her to continue writing. "I really liked playing around with language, and I've been writing ever since." The Indiana University South Bend professor has been teaching creative writing and composition in the Department of English since 1991. In a Q&A with Live at IU, Botkin discusses the challenges of teaching poetry and the poets she most admires.
