The Lilly Endowment is giving the IU Foundation two major gifts, totaling $69 million, to secure the international standing of the IU Jacobs School of Music, provide its world-class music faculty and students with a state-of-the-art studio facility and propel the IU School of Law-Bloomington to the upper echelon of public university law schools.

Jan. 12, 4 and 8 p.m., Cultural & Community Center, Indiana University Southeast, 4201 Grant Line Rd., New Albany -- This five-man a cappella powerhouse has taken its infectious blend of soul, rock, R&B and jazz across the USA, selling out shows and appearing on radio and television everywhere. They've been regulars on the popular PBS program, "Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego," worked with Spike Lee, recorded instantly recognizable commercials for brands like Folgers, and released a string of well-received recordings of their own, along with collaborations with other artists. Masterpieces and high tech: Modern dance at Indiana University

The contemporary dance faculty at Indiana University decided to "push the envelope" this year by challenging their dancers to learn the works of modern dance icons Paul Taylor, Bella Lewitzky and Anna Sokolow. The result, seen on Jan. 11-12 in the annual guest artist and faculty concert on the Bloomington campus, will be a stimulating combination of modern dance masterpieces and original and high-tech works by faculty.
