IU brings a jazzy version of 'Le Nozze di Figaro' to the MAC

The Marriage of Figaro Starting Feb. 22, Indiana University Opera Theater audiences can hear Le Nozze di Figaro, the beloved comedy by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, as Mozart himself might have heard it in the traditional "bel canto" style. Guest conductor William Crutchfield is working to revive this 18th-century method, which emphasizes smooth vocal phrases, pure tone and improvised ornamentation suited to the individual singer's voice.  Full Story

 American Shakespeare Center on Tour: Performances and workshops come to IUPUI and IU Kokomo

The Indiana University School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI is bringing the American Shakespeare Center's Piercing Eloquence Tour to Indiana Feb. 25 through March 2. The tour will include 14 workshops as well as six performances for high school and IU students and faculty as well as the general public.

In this Q&A, dance historian Selene Carter offers insights into the Indiana University Contemporary Dance Program's upcoming ArtsWeek contribution, entitled "The Body Politic: Dance Performances In Sites That Shape Our Lives." The performances, on Feb. 23 and Feb. 26, will transform the Woodburn 100 lecture hall at IU Bloomington and the Monroe County Courthouse atrium downtown into a stage.

Allison Moody is no stranger to the stage, but her upcoming role in The Seagull brings a challenge to the actress. A third-year Master of Fine Arts student at Indiana University Bloomington, Moody portrays the leading character Arkadina in Anton Chekhov's The Seagull, which opens Feb. 22 at the Lee Norvelle Theatre and Drama Center in Bloomington. Moody sat down with Live at IU to discuss her portrayal of Arkadina and her future goals as an actress.
