Indiana University presidential inauguration set for April 15

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- In a ceremony that marks a defining moment in the life of a university, Adam W. Herbert will be inaugurated as the 17th president of Indiana University on April 15 at 3 p.m. in the IU Auditorium on the Bloomington campus. The inauguration and a reception immediately following are open to the public.

The ceremony, which will feature the gowned traditions of the academy, will be the center of inaugural events. The evening before the ceremony, Indiana University Distinguished Professor of Music David Baker and Bunky Green, professor and director of jazz studies at the University of North Florida, will perform a jazz concert. It is scheduled for April 14 at 8:30 p.m. in the IU Auditorium and is free and open to the public.

The Lilly Library will feature a display of IU's past presidential inaugurations titled "From Andrew Wylie to Adam W. Herbert: Images of Presidential Inauguration Ceremonies."

More details on the inauguration and accompanying activities will be provided in early April. Information also is maintained and updated at the IU presidential inauguration Web site at https://www.indiana.edu/~pres/inauguration04/.
