CIC universities to meet at IU to discuss international recruiting after Sept. 11

Representatives from member universities of the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC) will meet Thursday and Friday (Dec. 6-7) at Indiana University's Bloomington campus to discuss the new challenges of recruiting international students as a result of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Directors of international offices and international admissions/recruitment will discuss the effects of current or possible future federal counter-terrorist measures on recruitment, admission and enrollment of international students in American universities, and consider alternative strategies for international recruitment in the post-Sept. 11 world.

Representatives from all 12 CIC institutions, which include the 11 Big Ten universities and the University of Chicago, will attend the conference.

Conference presenters, as well as some attendees, will be available to speak to the media Friday (Dec. 7) from 2-3 p.m. in the University Club at the Indiana Memorial Union.
