BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Cirque Dreams Holidaze and The Christmas Music of Mannheim Steamroller by Chip Davis, Jr. have been added to the Indiana University Auditorium's performance calendar for this year.
Individual tickets to these shows and all of the 2010-2011 season shows go on sale Friday, Sept. 3, at 10 a.m.
Cirque Dreams Holidaze comes to Bloomington Tuesday, Nov. 30 and Wednesday, Dec. 1. The family-friendly performance time is 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $32-$48 for general public and $17-$32 for children and IU Bloomington students.
Mannheim Steamroller plays Friday, Dec. 17 at 8 p.m. and tickets are $37-$70 for general public and $19-$70 for IU Bloomington students with valid ID. These performances will bookend the annual Chimes of Christmas tradition at IU Auditorium, which is taking place this year on Dec. 8.
"Cirque Dreams Holidaze is an incredible family show," said Doug Booher, director of IU Auditorium. "Chip Davis' multimedia stage production of the internationally beloved Mannheim Steamroller Christmas will be a highlight of this year's holiday season. We're pleased that audiences from throughout the region will have the rare opportunity to see these popular performances."
Created and directed by Neil Goldberg, Cirque Dreams Holidaze is an original new musical extravaganza filled with acrobatic feats. An international cast of aerialists, singers, dancers, acrobats and musicians fill the stage and air, and even dangle from a 24-foot tall magical tree. With more than 100 costumes and an original musical score mixed with holiday favorites, Cirque Dreams Holidaze celebrates the holiday season with the same brand of entertainment that millions have enjoyed throughout the U.S. and abroad.
In 1984, Mannheim Steamroller released Mannheim Steamroller Christmas, an album that changed the music industry.
Already a multi-platinum music group through its Fresh Aire series of eight albums, Mannheim Steamroller founder Chip Davis, Jr. decided to record an album of Christmas music that combined the group's signature mix of renaissance instruments with rock 'n' roll beats. The resulting album was a runaway hit that propelled Mannheim Steamroller to become the best-selling Christmas music artist in history and one of the top 50 biggest selling musical acts ever (the band has sold over 35 million albums).
The group's annual Christmas tour, now celebrating its 25th anniversary, will feature the favorite Christmas music of Mannheim Steamroller along with state-of-the-art multimedia effects in the intimate setting of IU Auditorium.
