The critically acclaimed Blue Man Group is best known for multimedia performances that feature three bald, blue-painted characters who take the audience on a funny, intelligent and visually stunning journey accompanied by a live band, whose haunting tribal rhythms help drive the show to its climax.

Although Blue Man Group has toured previously with its Megastar arena rock show, this marks the first theatrical production to tour North America. This tour features classic Blue Man moments, brand-new content and a new physical design centering around a proscenium-sized LED (light-emitting diode) curtain and high-resolution screen that creates an entirely new visual experience.

Blue Man Group co-founder Philip Stanton has commented on why the production has never toured before: "We needed to find a way to transform theaters of all shapes and sizes into spaces in which the Blue Man can intimately connect with the audience, where the audience can become engaged with the spirit of the show and of the Blue Man himself," Stanton said.

In addition to the touring show, Blue Man Group currently has productions in New York, Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, Orlando, Berlin and Tokyo. The group has been featured on TV shows that include "The Tonight Show," "Ellen" and "Live with Regis and Kelly." Blue Man Group also has a performance on the new Norwegian Cruise Line ship, the Norwegian Epic. A new IMAX film, Blue Man Group: Mind Blast, is set to arrive in theatres this year.

Blue Man Group was founded by Phil Stanton, Chris Wink and Matt Goldman in 1987 and began performing in various venues around New York City. The group was discovered by The CLUB, which asked Blue Man Group to create the full-length show that led to its mainstream popularity.

"Blue Man Group is one of the most popular, compelling shows in history and we are very excited to present this to the Bloomington audience, building on the groundbreaking success that the group has experienced in Las Vegas, Chicago and New York," said Doug Booher, director of IU Auditorium.

In addition to entertainment, Blue Man Group is heavily involved in education and is offering a "Blue Man Group National Invent an Instrument Contest." Open to children in grades 5-9, the contest encourages children to use their imagination and create instruments out of everyday items. For more information, visit www.blueman.com/instrument.
